What is the difference between polyester and recycled polyester
Recycled PET (RPET) is a new type of environmentally friendly recycled material, whose yarn is extracted from discarded mineral water bottles and cola bottles, also known as cola bottle eco-friendly thread (RPET fabric). This product is highly favored in developed economies abroad, especially in Europe and America, due to its waste recycling. It is used in camisoles, shirts, skirts, children's clothing, scarves, cheongsams, ties, handkerchiefs, home textiles, curtains, pajamas, bows, gift bags, sleeves, fashionable umbrellas, pillowcases, pillows, and more. Its advantages are good wrinkle resistance and shape retention.
Recycled yarn can reduce the use of oil, saving 6 tons of oil per ton of finished yarn, making a certain contribution to reducing air pollution and controlling greenhouse effect.
1、 Different performance
1. The strength and other properties of recycled polyester fibers are poor.
2. Polyester fibers have relatively good strength and other properties.
2、 Different raw materials
1. Recycled polyester is made by granulating recycled materials (PET bottles, foam, etc.) and then drawing them into fibers.
2. Polyester is made by polymerizing and esterifying chemical raw materials PTA and MEG into fibers.
Recycled polyester staple fibers are made from polyester fabric, waste polyester bottle pieces, spinning waste fibers, bubble wrap, and pulp blocks. The waste bottle pieces are crushed and cleaned, and the mixture of various materials is dried, melted, extruded, spun, wound, bundled, stretched, curled (with different oils added during curling according to customer needs), relaxed, heat set, and cut to form polyester staple fibers of different lengths.
Characteristics of polyester:
1. High toughness. The short fiber strength is 2.6-5.7 cN/dtex, and the high-strength fiber strength is 5.6-8.0 cN/dtex. Due to its low hygroscopicity, its wet strength is basically the same as its dry strength. The impact strength is 4 times higher than nylon and 20 times higher than viscose fiber.
2. Good elasticity. Elasticity is close to wool, and when stretched by 5% to 6%, it can almost fully recover. The wrinkle resistance exceeds other fibers, that is, the fabric does not wrinkle, has good dimensional stability, and polyester fabric has high strength and elastic recovery ability. Therefore, it is firm, durable, wrinkle resistant and iron free.
3. Heat resistant polyester is made by melt spinning method, and the formed fibers can be melted by heating again, belonging to thermoplastic fibers. Polyester has a relatively high melting point, but its specific heat capacity and thermal conductivity are relatively low, so polyester fibers have higher heat resistance and insulation properties. It is the best synthetic fiber.
4. Good thermoplasticity but poor melt resistance. Due to its smooth surface and tightly arranged internal molecules, polyester is a heat-resistant fabric in synthetic fiber fabrics. It has thermoplasticity and can be used to make pleated skirts with long-lasting pleats. Meanwhile, polyester fabrics have poor melt resistance and are prone to forming holes when exposed to cigarette ash, sparks, and other substances. Therefore, when wearing, try to avoid contact with cigarette butts, sparks, etc.
5. Good wear resistance. Wear resistance is second only to nylon, which has good wear resistance, and better than other natural and synthetic fibers.
6. Good light resistance. Light resistance is second only to acrylic fiber. Polyester fabrics have better light resistance, and besides being inferior to acrylic, their sun resistance is superior to natural fiber fabrics. Especially behind the glass, the sun resistance is very good, almost on par with acrylic fiber.
